Trafford Park Visitors Centre

Client; Groundwork Trust Salford and Trafford

The building has a floor area of 230m2 and provides adaptable space, the essential areas it provides are; an educational space, a conference room and offices for the Groundwork Trust. The centre is set within a nature reserve overlooking a lake in the heart of Trafford Park industrial area. The building is adjacent to a pond and has a deck accessed from the education room for pond dipping. The building is raised from the ground, which allows newts to pass freely beneath and also allows venting of any harmful gases emitting from the contaminated land. The building is a steel framed construction with steel cladding to the north elevation, where it relates to its industrial neighbours, timber and glass to the south overlooking the lake. Featured in cabe 'parkitecture' 2005 calendar.
